The land paddles are still going through a design phase (though those to date have worked well). The basis for the design relates to Polynesian / Hawaiian 'War Clubs' and are made using the same methods has the longboard (clamped and laminated ply with specialist resin glue).
To reach the design, maquette's for the handles are made to test the ergonomics. Ice Hockey Pucks are used for the base and are drilled in three places to allow them to be moved when worn:-

Once carving and sanding is completed. Each paddle is 'surface sealed' and paint applied. In addition to cellulose I have experimented with rubber paint which provides a tactile surface and better purchase when paddling.
